Lose Weight Without Diet Supplements or Exercising

Updated on April 10, 2012

Losing Weight Doesn't Have to be Hard

There are many people in this world who can stand to lose a few pounds. This advice is for those who want to lose anywhere from 15 to 25 pounds in a reasonable amount of time without the aide of diet supplements or exercise. I was definitely one of those people.

Before losing my job – thanks to the lovely recession – I noticed myself putting on several unwanted pounds. While at work, I would take many unnecessary snack breaks during the day, along with eating breakfast and lunch before quitting time. Then, of course, I would eat a heavy dinner shortly before bedtime. This was not good. I was no longer able to fit my suits! First, I went up one size and before I knew it, I was up two sizes – very easily accomplished, by the way. Well, I knew something had to be done. After approximately three or four months (I wasn’t actually tracking), I got on the scale one day and happily discovered that I had lost 27 pounds!

The most important thing to remember when trying to lose weight is to cut out unnecessary foods or replace them with healthier choices. So, get rid of the sweets and chips. When you want a little snack, pick up a piece of fruit. What also worked for me was drinking lots of green tea without sugar. Add a little honey or agave if you desire the sweet taste. I found that drinking the tea first thing in the morning would curb my appetite. I substituted the bagels and cream cheese for breakfast with a boiled egg and some fruit. Drink plenty of water as well. Drinking something before you eat helps to full you up a bit faster, and you will eat less. During the day, I’d skip all the snacks and would drink a cup of green tea whenever I felt the urge to eat something before lunch or dinner. Remember: If you drink lots of tea you must still consume water. Do not substitute tea for water or use it to quench your thirst. Be sure to drink enough water during the early part of the day. This will cut down on bathroom time if you’re drinking tea throughout the evening. Getting an uninterrupted night’s rest is very important as well. Believe it or not, we burn calories as we sleep!

It wasn’t necessary for me to follow a strict diet of no carbs or any of the other regimented diets out there. I simply cut down on red meat and only ate very small portions of rice or potatoes along with plenty of vegetables. I would often opt for a liquid lunch just to hold me over until dinner. A large cup of juiced fruits and vegetables often hit the spot. If I felt extra hungry I’d snack on some carrot sticks or celery and a handful of nuts. A fulfilling dinner would consist of a decent sized portion of fish (broiled, baked or steamed) along with a mixture of steamed vegetables and a few slices of red potatoes seasoned to my liking. I often used a little butter and still lost the weight.

We all know how hard it is to stop eating your favorite foods. I don’t want you to deprive yourself of all your guilty pleasures. You can eat them – just eat them in moderation and smaller portions. Only dine out three or four times a month, but do skip the appetizer and dessert. You will thank yourself later for doing that!
